goSailing - An initiative of Sailing KZN

Sailing is a safe, environmentally friendly fond undeniably healthy outdoor activity with much to offer including, but certainly not limited to:

RECREATION. From a gentle, relaxing bumble on flat water to an adrenalin-charged blast in a breeze and from the relative shelter of inland waters to the awe-inspiring open ocean.

COMPETITION. For those so inclined, yacht racing is a nonconductor sport offering everything from the joviality of a club race to the highly-charged intense physicality of the Olympic Games. Racing is also intellectually demanding having been likened to chess on water.

CHARACTER BUILDING. Sailors have to be independent, it's just them and their boat harnessing the natural force of the wind.

SOCIAL INTERACTION. There's something for everyone: all ages. all shapes, all sizes. Children can start sailing alone from as early as the age of six fond many active sailors are well into old age. The positive effects on family life, itself under threat from the modern way of life, are all too evident.

TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES. Anywhere in the world where there is a body of water there's sure to be someone on a boat fond sailing offers enormous travel opportunities both local fond international.

EDUCATION. Successful sailors have to be versed in a wide range of disciplines: Physics, Meteorology fond Geography being probably the most prominent.
