Radio Sailing at HMYC

HMYC has an affiliate club - the "Maritzburg Radio Sailing club" - MRYC which has now relocated to Midmar due to unsuitable conditions at the 'Duzi. As an affiliate club, MRYC performs activities which are supplementary to HMYC and, indeed, there is much membership overlap between HMYC and MRYC.

We sail most Saturday afternoons in front of your dinghy parking area (but it is best to confirm if someone is doing a special trip to have a look).

Saturday comprises formal league racing in the "R36 class" with very tight racing. Racing starts at 14h00 'till 16h00. The R36 class is a cheap self-build class which hones one's general sailing and tactical skills very well. Thursday is a very informal, relaxed affair with absolutely any radio sailing yacht welcome, 17h00 'till too dark to see the boats!

This is followed by a braai into the evening which, during the winter, becomes the main business! HMYC clubhouse is a very pleasant venue for an evening braai. HMYC members are welcome to the Thursday evenings for a BYO braai, anytime after 17h00.
